We are thrilled to introduce one of the San José Public Library Foundation‘s (SJPLF) newest 2026 board members, Jessica Pentland! When she isn’t serving our community as the Deputy County Counsel for Santa Clara County, Jessica is bringing her passion for libraries to our leadership team.
We recently caught up with Jessica to chat about her love for libraries and what inspired her to join the board. Scroll down to read the Q&A!

Why did you choose to serve on the Library Foundation board specifically?
I love our library system, and the Foundation is a great way to support the library and really all of San Jose.
Complete this sentence: A library is more than just books;…
…it’s a haven of knowledge, stories, and opportunity.
When you aren’t advocating for the library, where can we find you in the community?
My family and I are frequently at our neighborhood parks, and we try to participate in community events, especially Viva Calle.
We are so lucky to have Jessica’s expertise and collaborative spirit on our Library Foundation Board of Directors. Whether you run into her at your local library branch or catch her at the next Viva CalleSJ, please join us in giving her a warm welcome!
