About the Foundation
At the heart of our community, our Library provides a place where everyone can learn, create, study, and explore. The San José Public Library Foundation was established in 1987 by a group of community volunteers who understood that a great Library system needed more than public funding.
The Foundation has grown and evolved over the years, but that legacy continues. Over the past 30+ years, we have raised more than $23 million to support SJPL programs, and the Foundation plays a critical role in ensuring that all San José residents can benefit from the innovative programs that rank our Library among the best in the nation.
